On March 20-22, 2013, All-Russian Theoretical and Practical Conference “Influence of the East upon Art and Science of the Worlds”, the 16th Round of “Grigoriev’s Readings”, was held in Moscow.
Upon invitation of Irina Dmitrievna Grigorieva-Boutkevich, the widow of Vladimir Yurievich Grigoriev and coordinator of the Readings, Margarita Siourina took part in the Conference with a lecture on «Mirror Reflections of Japanese Culture in Western Art» presented on the 21st of March. We would like to bring to your attention a video fragment of the Artist’s presentation.
The subject of Margarita Siourina’s lecture was of great interest for those attending, and caused lively discussions; after the lunch break, Victor Mikhailovich Nemchinov developed the topic and suggested his own off-hand vision (from our point of view – the mirror one) of the subject.
The Artist is really grateful to the Chairman of the Readings held on March 21, Doctor of Philosophy, Eduard Isayevich Sorokin, to Irina Dmitrievna Grigorieva-Boutkevich, and to those who took part in the Conference.
Of the lectures delivered on the 21st of March, the most interesting were the ones of Dmitriy Andreyevich Khoudiakov “Traditional Chinese Philology: Subject Matter and Methodology”, and of Anna Gennadievna Alyabieva “Issues of Temperament: on the Influence of the East on Western Music”.
