THE GREAT VICTORY IS 66

It is for the 66th time that we are coming to celebrate the Anniversary of the Great Victory

And soon, we’ll be electing the President for the 6th time…

Today more than ever it’s hard to perceive Russia with rational mind…

Up to now, we’ve got two main troubles: fools and roads …
Oh, you roads…

Let’s go along the roads of the Great Patriotic War together, not to understand (it’s impossible, see above) but to feel deeper, and to believe…
To believe in our own strengths, to believe in our predestination, to a happier destiny of our children, and in the Beauty that will come to our streets, to our country one day…
Finally, to believe in the Power of God that saves us who never do well…
No faith, and a man turns into something small, insignificant,… and mortal.

This year, my father will not see the 9th of May here with us in Moscow for the first time.
He will celebrate the Great Victory with THEM…

WITH THOSE, whom he loved so and was in time to tell about.
WITH THOSE, who fell in Belostok and in Brest, in the battles of Smolensk, of Moscow and of Stalingrad.
WITH THOSE, who seized Königsberg, Warsaw, Prague, who reached Berlin.
WITH THOSE, whom we shall always remember.

Today, THEY look down from the clouds and smile…
“Hold on…” – the wind brings back their words…”
“Hold on, boys! It will all come right. We shall meet soon, all of us…”

May 2011,
Margarita Siourina

We are resuming our discussion I REMEMBER…

Today, we are presenting a short story by Yury Alexeevich Siourin THE FIRST DAY OF WAR
This is a posthumous publication…

If you belong to ‘children of war’ generation and would like to share your reminiscences with us, please send your stories about war via CONTACTS. We shall publish the best stories on our web site, and younger people will be able to read them and perhaps will get a better insight of your time and you.

Perhaps they will understand better our time too, for a nation is strong only until we love and remember our history, keep our traditions and culture.

We do always miss that…

CONGRATULATIONS FOR THE VICTORY DAY, MAY 9!
